This inner-city alteration and addition in Fitzroy is certified Passivhaus Plus, integrating high-performance construction with a considered response to the site’s heritage context.
Delivered in partnership with Jane Cameron Architects on a compact 288 m² site, the three-bedroom home prioritises comfort, durability and long-term operational efficiency through careful detailing, airtight construction and robust thermal performance.
Material and waste management formed a deliberate part of delivery. Across demolition, excavation and construction, 91.1% of material by weight was diverted from landfill. Excluding unavoidable hazardous materials, landfill disposal was limited to just 2.5%.
Achieving Passivhaus Plus certification recognises both the home’s exceptional energy performance and its renewable energy generation. The result is a contemporary, low-energy home that sits confidently within Fitzroy’s urban fabric and demonstrates how considered construction can deliver both high-performance and genuinely circular outcomes.
